How Can I stay On Top of My Assurance Task Workload?
Assurance Tasks are most effective when completed regularly. The good news is, each task is designed to take (on average) less than 30 minutes to complete. Staying on top of your weekly task list means fewer surprises, less stress before an audit, and a stronger, more resilient management system overall. Here’s how to keep things under control:
1. Log in once a week — same time, same routine Treat Assurance Tasks like a weekly hygiene check. Set a calendar reminder (like every Tuesday afternoon) and spend just 30 minutes reviewing and completing tasks in de.iterate.
2. Use filters to prioritise your list Start by filtering for ‘Overdue Tasks’ and ‘Tasks Due Today’ (as shown opposite). This gives you a clear picture of what needs your immediate attention. Then work through your open tasks by framework or area of responsibility.
3. Delegate when appropriate If a task is better handled by someone else (like your IT, HR, or operations teams), use the ‘Assigned To’ dropdown to delegate it to the right person (see page 6 for more detailed instructions). Don’t let tasks pile up if they don’t belong to you.
4. Document decisions and attach evidence Use the notes field to record what you did, what you checked, and any issues you found. Upload screenshots or supporting documents where relevant. This ensures every task becomes useful audit evidence down the track.
5. Don’t let tasks snowball A missed week might seem harmless, but they add up quickly. 30 minutes per week is manageable. But catching up on 3 months’ worth before an audit can take days. Stay consistent and you’ll thank yourself later.
