How to import Assets and Suppliers into my Register
- Log into your de.iterate account. You’ll be greeted by your main dashboard.
- Click on ‘Registers’ in the left hand menu. From there, click on ‘Asset and Supplier Register’ in the centre of the screen.
- You’ll be greeted with the main Register screen. From there, click on ‘Import’ in the top right-hand corner of the screen (as shown below).
-
You will then be able to upload a file from your device to be imported. This file needs to be in the .json file format.
What’s a .json file?
A .json (JavaScript Object Notation) file is a common file format used to store structured data in a simple, readable way. It’s similar to a spreadsheet or table, but designed for computers and systems to read easily.
This is intended for use by advanced users only.
You won’t open a .json file in Excel or Word - instead, it can be opened in a text editor (like Notepad or TextEdit), or uploaded into other systems or software tools for processing. If you want to convert it into a more familiar format (like a CSV or Excel file), there are free tools online that can help.
This format is often used because it’s lightweight, fast, and compatible with many systems - making it ideal for secure and structured data exports like your Asset and Supplier lists.
We suggest that you export a list from de.iterate first (see the instructions here to do this). And then use this as guide for formatting.
